How To Blend Elevated Pieces With Cozy Pieces

Hello everyone and welcome to Half Past Seven, fashion styling that will take you from day to night and everything in between. Thank you for following me on this journey and I'm looking forward to what's yet to come! With that being said... let get into it!

A few clients have asked me... "How to I remain comfortable, while still showing up and looking like I'm the boss?" Great question! Hence the inspiration for this blog post! When it comes to balancing your elevated pieces with your cozy pieces think in rules of three -- you have your top (head and torso), bottom (legs), and footwear. One of these three should be elevated or depending on the event or your mood, cozy and the rest elevated.

To be honest, the year 2020 got us really comfortable when it came to our wardrobe! Now don't get me wrong pre 2020 the girls were already out here giving elevation mixed with cozy vibes... i.e. the Kahlana's, the Kia's and the Jariatu's... But once that "stay at home" order was in place we all were nothing but cozy. Lounge sets, and sneakers, and leggings... I mean why go back right!? Soon reality set back in and we had to figure out how to maintain the coziness but add the chic to our outfits. Here are five ways you can add some elevation to your next cozy but chic look.

Option One: A Blazer or Smart Coat

Easily said, a blazer or smart coat is a tailored masterpiece. It adds instant elegance and a feeling of confidence to any look. An essential to your capsule wardrobe, pair your blazer or smart coat with jeans and trainers, sweats and trainers, skirts or dresses -- these pieces are chef''s kiss when when it comes to adding a touch of elevation to your cozy fit.

Option Two: Jewelry and Accessories

Adding statement accessories and jewelry are quick simple way to elevate any look while also adding personality. Are you a gold or silver person or like to play with textures, color, and quirky adornments to communicate a statement? Either way you can never go wrong with adding this special touch to switch up your look!

Option Three: Dressy / Tailored Pants

Tailored pants next to a hoodie or oversized sweater can be very unassuming in the best way. Quintessential to a blazer or smart coat, tailored pants are another sartorial investment piece to have in your wardrobe. Adding tailored pants creates an elegant yet effortless style that is ideal for cool-weather office days that call for an elevated outfit. So whip out those tailored pants every once and a while whenever you want to give an unexpected yet perfect pairing of elevation and cozy.

Option Four: Heels

Are you a "heels" girl? This one is for you! If you feel super elevated and want that ultra chicness to your look add some heels! A strappy or sandal heel pairs perfectly with 90's fit jeans or sweats. They keep the look light and sleek while everything else is a bit baggy and oversized.

Option Five: Mix it up and put two or three or all of them together!

Get creative and mix it up! In all transparency how you decide to mix in your elevated and cozy pieces is totally up to you, your mood, your vibe, or event you may be attending. If you're new to this, thinking in rules of three and having one of the three areas be cozy or elevated is a great place to start! As you eventually branch out and try new things you can take your mixing and matching to the next level! You'll be surprised at the different combinations you can create.
